The PGD Berserker is an NIJ Level IV standalone hard armour plate in SAPI cut, 25 × 30 cm. It stops one .30-06 M2 armour-piercing round on its own, with no soft armour behind it, and PGD also lists 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm NATO and 7.62 × 39 mm rounds as special threats. The strike face is hexagonal Al₂O₃ (alumina) ceramic over a polyethylene backing, with the active ceramic area running edge to edge. PGD uses slightly heavier materials to keep the cost lower; the plate weighs 3.4 kg and is sold as a single plate.
