The Argus PNVG-18 is a panoramic night vision goggle with four image intensifier tubes, for helmet use. Two tubes face forward for depth perception, and two face to the sides for peripheral vision. This gives a much wider view than a standard 40° binocular, so you need to turn your head less.
Each unit is calibrated on a Hoffman Engineering ANV-126A test set, then vacuum tested and nitrogen purged. The tubes are selected so that the four images join evenly.

Why four tubes?
The two centre tubes give a normal stereoscopic view with depth perception. The two outer tubes add peripheral vision to the left and right, so you see more without turning your head.
How is it powered?
From an external battery pack through a Fischer port. The Argus Universal Strobe Battery Pack and cable are included.
What does FOM mean?
Figure of merit is tube resolution multiplied by signal-to-noise ratio. A higher FOM gives a clearer image in low light.
Is a helmet mount included?
Yes. The Argus A4 Lightweight NV Mount is in the box.
